At the start off the game, he is just trying to survive and maybe get of the Sprawl (it's been a while since I played it, but as I remember it Isaac mostly acts upon the suggestions of others - the unitologist lady guiding him, and Stross telling him what to do with the machine).Īlso, for much of the game I think that Nicole's actions are as a result of the dementia caused by the red marker from Dead Space 1, rather than the white marker influencing Isaac (it is also possible she is a result of both, though Isaac was seeing her before the white marker could have started influencing him). I am not sure Isaac does plan to go straight to the marker. This tactic then works as when Isaac discovers the gunship he has now been convinced that he needs to stay and reach the marker instead of fleeing the station like he originally wanted. It kept being hostile but every time Isaac managed to fight it off, so later on when he finally admits he can't let her go it uses that opportunity to change tactics and act nice. I think for the most part the Nicole hallucinations were the marker trying to trick Isaac. When he defeated the marker signal in his brain and survived the only thing left to do was to sit and wait for the reactor to overload and destroy the marker. This is because earlier he shut the power down, allowing the necromorphs in to trigger a convergence event which started shaking the station apart as well as all the necromorphs tearing through it.įor the convergence event to finalise it also needed to consume Isaac. The marker wasn't destroyed by his mind, as he sits there and it is crumbling the station alerts state that the reactor core is malfunctioning which is causing the station to shake apart and then explode.
